Going rainbow for World’s Greatest Shave
Meet Diana. She is a rainbow legend! Back in December 2014 Diana emailed me…
“Hi there I am participating in the Worlds Greatest Shave 2015, and am going to die my hair rainbow colours…instead of shaving. I would like to use one of your photos to place on my fundraising profile online. The one of the girl with long waves/curls, taken from behind!”
Of course I gave her permission along with a free copy of my book to help her cause.
“I read your book…Very impressive. Thank you so much for the free copy!!!! I have set a date for my ‘Greatest Colour” and will be doing it at home on March 15th. I’m going to host a light luncheon and a couple of girlfriends will be colouring my hair, with the help of your book!!”
Then a few days ago I receive an email with the most wonderful photos!
“Hi Anya. Thanks for the inspiration and the donation of your book… I’m in love with my new hair!! Rainbows….my new passion!!”

This amazing woman kindly agreed to let me share the photos with you and to answer a few questions…
Here is our Q & A with Diana:
What motivated you to take part in the Worlds Greatest Shave?
Around a year ago my partner was diagnosed with stomach cancer. He has undergone drastic surgery and chemotherapy. I have had family members and friends over the years who have been affected by some form of cancer. My sister had early stages of Cervical cancer in her late 20’s, luckily treatment for her was simple and successful. Also 22 years ago I lost a friend to Lymphatic leukaemia.
For some years now I have been wanting to participate in the Greatest Shave. I have supported many other different charities in the past. I was involved in the Endeavour Foundations Tiny Tots quest with my youngest son 20 years ago, raising money for Intellectually Disabled people. Up until a couple of years ago I was involved with the Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia for about 10 years.
Through my job as a practice manager in a medical centre I have also seen the effects of cancers on patients and their families.
Leukaemia to me seems that little bit worse than other cancers.
One of my daughters in law did the shave last year, so I decided I wanted to do my little bit this year.
Where did the idea for the rainbow from?
Not wanting to shave, I decided to colour. Originally wanting to just do one colour, but then came across a link to your site (www.rainbowhaircolour.com). I thought the rainbow colours would make a pretty big impact, so I decided to go ahead and do it permanently.
I tried getting some help from hairdressers but had no luck, only lots of good advice with the odd negative comment thrown in, like “You’ll have to pre bleach and it will wreck your hair”. In the end my workmate and friend offered to do it for me. I invited a heap of friends and family to a fundraising lunch so they could watch me transform. We had a great day and raised $380 on the day alone!
What colours did you use?
All Manic Panic colours: Electric Banana, Cotton Candy Pink, Ultra Violet, Pillar Box Red, Atomic Turquoise, Neon Electric Lizard, Mixed red and yellow to make orange…the orange looked almost too red but came out amazing! My favourites are the turquoise, green and violet. I am soooo very grateful to you for donating your ebook to me. It made a huge difference to getting the result I got!
How much have you raised so far?
So far I have raised a total of $1200. Part online, and also from donations from patients at work. I almost cried the other day when an elderly lady walked over and donated, telling me her daughter had died from Leukaemia and then she thanked me. THAT just made it all so much more worthwhile.
Join the fight against Leukaemia…
If you would like to show your support and sponsor Diana and her rainbow hair, it’s not to late!
Her online sponsorship page is still on the Leukaemia Foundation’s website.
Every little bit helps, and anything over $2 is tax deductible.
